Privacy Policy of Tangery Limited

 

Here at tangery, we like things to be simple, convenient and transparent. Just like event planning, we love it when things are made easier and clearer. We take this philosophy through to all areas of our world, including the way we deal with our users’ personal data.

 

We respect the privacy of our users (“you”) and have developed this Privacy Policy to demonstrate our commitment to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect, how that information may be used, and with whom it may be shared. We encourage you to read this Privacy Policy carefully before using our app, and regularly check for updates. By registering with our application (our “Service”), you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy (so read it carefully!).

 

When we say “tangery”, “our,” “we,” or “us,” we’re talking about Tangery Limited. This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) applies to all of our apps, services, features, software, and website (together, “Services”) unless specified otherwise.

 

Some terminology to clear up first…

 

“tangery user(s)” - these are all the users of our app.

 

“tangery contact(s)” - these are tangery users whose phone numbers you already have saved in your device contact book, hence you can see them in your tangery contacts and invite them to events.

 

“event member(s)” - these are all the people who have accepted an event invite, and are inside an event. these may be your tangery contacts (if you have their phone number in your device) or they may be other tangery users who were invited to the event by someone else.

 

“event admin(s)” - these are event members who have also been granted event administrator privileges. You are automatically made an event admin when you create an event, or can be granted this status when another event admin makes you an event admin.

 

Information we collect and why we collect it

 

Through the course of your journey with tangery, you will provide information to us which we will collect.

 

  • Phone number and contact book

 

You provide your phone number to create a tangery account. We use this phone number to verify that you are a real person, and so that other tangery users who have your phone number saved in their device can see you in their tangery contacts, view your name and profile picture, and invite you to their events. Once you provide us with your phone number, we will store and process it on our database on our servers. We won’t show your phone number to other tangery users. In addition, we will request for ongoing access to your phone contact book in order to find out which of your phone contacts are using tangery, so you can view their name and profile picture in your tangery contacts, and invite them to events. You confirm you are authorised to provide us such numbers.

 

  • Name

 

You provide us with your name upon signup. If you choose to sign up to tangery with the Facebook option (please refer to Facebook’s own Privacy Policy/Policies for more detail on what information they may collect or share about you), tangery will automatically extract your name from your Facebook account, to save you time from having to type it manually. Otherwise, we will request you to manually provide us with your name upon sign up. Once you provide your name, we will store and process it on our database on our servers. You can change your tangery name in your profile once logged in. tangery contacts who already have your phone number on their device will see your name as it is saved on their device. However, other tangery users (who aren’t tangery contacts) will be able to see your tangery name if you are in the same event as them.

 

  • Photos and Documents

 

You are able to upload a profile photo. If you choose to connect tangery with your Facebook account (please refer to Facebook’s own Privacy Policy/Policies for more detail on what information they may collect or share about you), we can retrieve your profile photo from your Facebook account, to save you having to manually upload it as your profile photo. Otherwise, you can manually upload a profile photo within the tangery profile section of the app. So that you can do this, our app will require access to your device’s folders so you can browse for photos to upload. Once you upload the profile photo, we will store and process it on our servers. If you are an event member, other event members can see your profile photo, whether they are your tangery contact or not. Also, your tangery contacts will be able to see your profile photo in their tangery contacts. You can change your profile photo at any time from your tangery profile. So that you can do this, our app will require access to your device’s folders so you can browse for photos to upload.

 

If you are an event member, you will be able to upload photos to the event from your device, to share with the other event members. So that you can do this, our app will require access to your device’s folders so you can browse for photos to upload. Once you upload the photos, we will store and process them on our servers. Keep in mind that, once uploaded, any photo you share can be viewed, saved or shared by other event members (and can be edited or deleted by other event admins). Also, if you are an event admin, you can upload an event cover photo, which can be viewed by anybody invited to the event, as well as the other event members.

 

If you are an event admin, you will be able to upload documents to the event, to share with the other event members. Once you upload the documents, we will store and process them on our servers. Keep in mind that, once uploaded, any document you share can be viewed, downloaded or shared by other event members (and can be edited or deleted by other event admins).

 

  • Location

 

When you are an event admin, you can search for and add locations to events. Other event members will be able to see the locations you add. Keep in mind that, once uploaded, any location you share can be viewed, saved or shared by other event members (and can be edited or deleted by other event admins). Furthermore, as well as the locations you provide, we may collect geolocation information from your device when you are using our app. We do this through the normal course of providing our app’s services. For example, when you are adding or viewing a location in tangery, tangery can access your geolocation on your device so we can show you where exactly you are on the map. Also, when you are creating a new event or activity in tangery, tangery can access your current location via geolocation on your device to help suggest the right time zone for your event. We rely on Google services for our location functionality. Please refer to their own Privacy Policy/Policies for more detail on what information they may collect or share about you.

 

  • Chat

 

If you are an event member, you can send chat messages to other event members. We will store and transmit these messages for you through our server, so that the other event members can receive them. Keep in mind that, once sent, any messages you share can be viewed and copied by other event members.

  • Device

We hate bugs. In order to keep tangery bug free, and to help isolate and troubleshoot issues such as bugs and crashes, we may collect information about the device which you use tangery on, such as the model and operating system. 

 

How we may use the information we collect

In addition to the above, we may use information that we collect about you in the following ways:

 

  • Deliver and improve our products and services, and manage our business;

  • Provide you with customer support;

  • Perform research and analysis about your use of, or interest in, ours or others’ products, services, or content;

  • Communicate with you about products or services that may be of interest to you;

  • Conduct website or mobile application analytics;

  • For market research;

  • To provide you with personalised services, such as providing you with viewing recommendations and tailored advertising;

  • To gain insights which can help to improve the experience we provide with our app, and hopefully make our users' events even easier to plan and share.

 

Information we may provide to and collect from third parties

 

We rely on third party companies (such as Facebook, Google and Twilio) to help us to provide and improve our Services.

 

We may provide information to such third parties, which may include information about you and information about the devices you use to access our app, and information about the ways you use our app, to help us to provide and improve our Services or if we are required to do so by law. We are not in the business of selling your Personal Data. We consider protection of your privacy to be a vital part of our relationship with you. Therefore, we will not sell your Personal Data to third parties, including third party advertisers. 

 

We may also receive information from such third parties, which may include personal information about you and information about the devices you use to access our app, and information about the ways you use our app, to help us to provide and improve our Services or if we are required to do so by law. 

 

We may combine your Personal Information and/or information about your events and activities, with that which was provided by or collected from other users, to prepare collective profiles of our users and their activities for our internal use. Such information, and other information we derive from individual users’ information, allows us to continue to grow and provide you with a better quality app experience and more relevant  Services. We may share such aggregated information concerning our users, without attribution of Personal Information, to other companies with whom we conduct business, or wish to conduct business.

Where your data is stored and transfers

We store your data on secure servers in the EU. 

As we develop our business, we might sell or buy businesses or assets. In the event of a corporate sale, merger, reorganisation, dissolution or similar event, Personal Data may be part of the transferred assets. You acknowledge and agree that any successor to or acquirer of Tangery Limited (or its assets) will continue to have the right to use your Personal Data and other information in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy. 

Protecting your information

We take what we believe to be reasonable measures to help keep your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised use, access, inadvertent disclosure, alteration and destruction. Only authorised employees are permitted to access personal information, and they may do so only for permitted business activities.

We want you to feel confident using our app. However, no system can be completely secure. Therefore, although we take steps to secure your information, we do not promise, and you should not assume, that your personal information will always remain secure. Users should also take care with how they handle and disclose their own personal information.

 

Updating your personal information

 

If you would like to update your name or profile photo, you can do this within the tangery app. Currently, you can’t change the phone number associated with your account within the app, however you can sign up to us again with your new number and create an account with that number.

 

Contact Us/ Delete your account
 

Please contact us with any questions regarding our Privacy Policy, or if you would like to permanently delete your account. If you request to permanently delete your account, we will delete the personal information we collected to create your profile such as your name, phone number, profile picture, and any permissions to access your device. However any tangery events or activities that you created will not be deleted. Also, the things you already chose to share in tangery events (such as the photos, locations, documents, and chat messages) will not be deleted.

 

What will happen if we update this policy

 

We may amend this Policy from time to time. Use of information we collect now is subject to the Policy in effect at the time such information is used. If we make changes that, in our sole discretion, we consider to be significantly material, we will notify you by delivering an announcement via our app. Otherwise, you are responsible for checking this site for updates to this Policy. If you are to continue to use the app after the updates become effective, you agree to abide by and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy.
